Operation give us all your teddies!

(The start of something special)

Something us pageant girls are great at doing is helping others. This is never the first thing people think of when you talk about pageants. They see all the glitz, the glam, the dresses and the high high heels . What they don't see is the thousands and thousands of pounds raised for various charities. Charity is a big part of pageantry. We arent forced to raise money, but what is the point of having a title if you cant use it for good and to inspire! I found out about Finlay's Journey and #opteddybear through a fellow face of the globe titleholder (super pageant mummy Karen) who was calling on facebook to help donate teddy bears. Karen lives in the midlands, so I thought it would be a great idea to get the South West involved and help the collection!!

(Finlay)

The story goes: Finlay is 10 years old and has Brain Cancer, an awful thing for anyone but for a little boy, it's heartbreaking! He was diagnosed in June 2014 and is ongoing treatment. Since then he has raised nearly 20,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital and Brain Tumor Research. The reason we need Teddy Bears? Finlay wants to break the record of most teddy bears in a line to get a world record and raise even more for charity! The record stands at 4,041, and we want to smash that! Afterwards the bears will be donated to charity shops to raise even more!!

 (Social media has helped loads!!)

Since putting the appeal on facebook on Sunday, we have been very busy! First  FLIC Wiltshire wrote a lovely piece:

Since this, and twitter, it has gone mad!! Someone brought a big bear donated by their 12 year old into Nuffield today, alot of different people collecting and searching their attics!! Then I had an amazing call today from the Swindon Children's Scrapstore saying that they saw the piece in FLIC and have started collecting, and have over 100 already!!! This is amazing news!! I am off to see them tomorrow and all the bears!

(The Scrapbear shop keeping a tally of the bears coming in!)

This just proves that social media can be used for good, by sharing on twitter and facebook, online magazines we now have over 150 bears already and it's not even the weekend yet!! We have until MONDAY to get as many as we can before I send them off to their new record breaking home!!
(Beni Bear- A very charitable bear helping the cause!)

I can't wait til we count the final tally and show that Swindon can be a very charitable place indeed!! If anyone knows anywhere we can get postaging and deliver cheap, please let me know as I have a feeling we could get to at least 500 if not more bears!!!

(Official Ambassador for Code Red Charity, so honoured!)

IN other pageant news, I am so honored to be asked to be an Ambassador for Project Code Red, an charity which helps homeless woman with hygiene products. Let's face it, that time of the month is never good for any women, but imagine being on the streets, homeless, not evening having basic shelter or nutritional food and then mother nature calls?! We simply do not think when we donate about woman's needs. This is a great cause and I can't wait to get more involved! You can find out more here:

If you would like to help, please sign this petition to help scrap the Tampon tax, taxing something that we have no control over is simply wrong!

(One of my lovely Sponsors!!)

I have also been asked to be a special guest at my sponsors charity event for Prospect Hospice, a summer ball!! I have always  been a great supporter of Prospect and us Wiltshire Beauty Queens have done a lot of fundraising  for them (jumping down tall buildings anyone?!!) so I will be there wil ringing bells!! You can get tickets here:

It's a chance to wear a ballgown, dress up, make lots of money for charity, dance and eat great food! My sponsors also have a great piece on Total Swindon where i was mentained:

They have definitely helped me with my dream of winning, and fingers crossed we can help other's dreams come true! From the women in the streets, to little Finlay and to everyone at Prospect! I am also busy planning my spinathon for the Rainbow Child Foundation, so fingers crossed we can help them to!!
Thank you for reading and please help with donating time or money, we are happy with both!!
Lots of love
Hannah
