Every moment is a pageant moment

(Page 3 of the Swindon Advertiser)

Every pageant girl knows there is always an opportunity for promotion, to help people and to get your name and pageant system across. I remember when I was Miss Swindon (I know, such a long time ago, should reaaallly stop going on about it). I used to always carry my sash around with me whenever I went, as you never knew what or who you would bump in to!! And I am the queen of multitasking as everyone will say, I'm always doing so many studies, pageants, work all at once! The paper put my abseil on Page 3 (keep it clean!) and it still amazes me that I completed it!!

(My beautiful ballgown from Rachel's Weddings)

Now I said about my amazing news that Rachel's Wedding's were sponsoring me an ballgown for the Face of the Globe finals, well not only did she give me this amazing ballgown, but also a cocktail dress for the cocktail round as well as another cocktail dress for personal appearances, for me to KEEP!! Amazing!! Speechless how kind Rachel has been. She said it was to thank me for everything I had done, helping model at her wedding fayres, opening her shop and with her charity events. As a pageant girl, i believe in helping the community, I do it for the love, not for what you can get out of it. That's why it is such an amazing act of kindness to give me three dresses to keep for myself, which saves so much money which can go towards my sponsorship costs for the finals.

(My sponsored dresses!!)

I knew as soon as I saw the ballgown out of the selection of dresses for me that I had found "the one". The colour was amazing, the neckline suited and it was big and princessey!! No need to try on the other dresses! Rachel knew I would chose this dress, which was why it was the first one out! I had tried the pink cocktail dress at the launch of the shop back in October 2012 and wanted to buy it then! But I didn't need it and sadly had to put it away, but now I needed a pink cocktail dress and so happy to be able to swish this about on stage! The gorgeous green cocktail dress Ruth (Miss Wiltshire 2012) modelled at one of the wedding fayres so I'm happy to have this sparkly beauty in my wardrobe!! If anyone is looking for a prom, evening, bridesmaid, wedding or mother of the bride dress then go to www.Rachelsweddings.org or visit in person as it's such a cute little shop and such a great service!!

From this I am also doing a wedding photoshoot at the Menzies Hotel on the 5th August where I get to marry a young, hot model (oh the perks of my job hey!). I've modeled wedding dresses before but never a male/female shoot so this will be an experience, and a great addition to my portfolio! Also on the 17th August Mia Solona are bringing down their new collection to the shop for people to be able to try on the collection, and get some great deals. I've been asked to model this collection! Another chance to wear wedding dresses and look pretty, it's SUCH a hard life!!
(With the owner of Ganges- who are part sponsoring me!)

As soon as I had finished trying on beautiful dresses, I then travelled to Royal Wootton Bassett to meet with the owners of Ganges Indian Restaurant who have kindly sponsored £100 towards to sponsorship cost. They also cooked me an amazing three course meal, although eating by myself led to people thinking I had been stood up on a date.... But the food was out of this world, especially dessert which was a mango ice-cream sorbet creation and it was amazing! Ganges will be celebrating 20 years in business this November in which I have been invited to help celebrate!! Feel very blessed to have my title open more doors for me in different communities!!

This weekend I got to open an amazing Vintage shop called Michia Mia in the Brunel Centre. I squeezed into a 70s halterneck jumpsuit and made a toast to open the shop! It looks amazing and very eco friendly! Plus sales go to help charities in Nepal. Pictures will follow but go check them out!!!

(Promotion for promotion, work and pageants at Oxjam- a music charity event!)

Back to the orginal start of this blog, bringing your sash everywhere. This saturday I was promoting for my workplace, the Brunel Rooms (Opens 1st August y'all) and we had a chance to talk at the charity event and help. There is going to be a big oxjam event in October, held at the MECA which will be great to help out at!!

(Going to Disney- Picture by Paul Carroll)

I also got the images back from the official photographer Paul Carroll and just had to share this! My top 5 speech, "I'm going to Disneyland!!". I love all the pictures and they show what an amazing day I had. I can't wait to keep making appearances, raising money and helping my community! Go South West!!

(Remember to never take life too seriously, enjoy the moments!)

Sunday 21 July 2013

I regularly walk down tall buildings in an evening gown and sash yes!

Busy, busy, busy! As soon as the article appeared for sponsorship for the Face of The Globe finals, I was contacted to come on the Swindon 105.5 show to talk about sponsorship, pageants and my job. I love coming to the Swindon 105.5 studios, with Liz and Shirley making me feel at ease and conversation flowed like we were just having a natter in a coffee shop! We talked about the finals, about pageants in general and what they undertake. Society still see's pageants as a superficial contest which only judges on looks. Well I love proving them wrong. Pageants are all about making a difference, the glamourous finals are just a small part of the whole journey! Most of the work is done for social media, promoting your cause, helping your community and creating friendships with the unlikeliest people. I have been doing pageants for 4 years now and have such a diverse group of friends and contacts, as well as doing some amazing things in my community. They are a great way of getting your name out there, I wouldn't of got my job in promotions if it wasn't for my pageant experience!

(Modelling at one of Rachel's Wedding Fayre)

I had some great news after the article was published. A phone call from an old friend Rachel, who I have modelled for in the past as well as help open her Rachel's Wedding shop phoned me after seeing I was looking for sponsors of all kinds to help. She has offered me a FREE dress to keep for the final! I have enough evening gowns (who am i kidding, i don't but for practicality i do) but for the evening gown round in this final, it's princess style! I don't own a princess style dress and at my prom, my dress was a slinky dress so no ballgowns. This is amazing news and I can't wait to try on what will be my princess gown for the Face of The Globe finals! One thing ticked off the list, just that cocktail dress to find!! If you need an evening or wedding dress, check out -http://www.rachelsweddings.org/. I have also been asked to model in a wedding feature brochure for the Menzies Hotel in Rachel's dresses! Exciting!

(Swindon Adver piece which got me dress sponsorship and donations!)

I also had a phonecall from Ganges Restaurant in Royal Wootton Bassett, where I spent a brief spell living in, who had seen the piece in the paper and offered me £100 sponsorship towards my trip! I'm so excited and meeting them Wednesday, also having some great food cooked for me! Check them out here- http://www.ganges.co.uk/.

(At the top of Jury's Inn, 130ft in Swindon)

So it's not every day you abseil down a hotel over 130ft tall in a evening gown and sash (ballgowns were out due to health and safety). I abseiled for Prospect Hospice, a great charity helping terminal patients live out their finals days comfortably as well as offer family and friends vital support. The Swindon Adver came along and took some shots too! To say I was nervous is an understatement! I am so scared of heights, they are not my favorite thing in the world, and last time I completed an abseil it was a shorted distance and i stood in tears of fear at the start. However I was so happy with myself that after the first nerves (don't look down they say!) i managed to complete it with no troubles!!

(Pictures and my certificate, proof!)

I can't wait for next year!!

(Evening gown abseiling)
The fun doesn't stop there! Check out Swindon Advertiser this week for that story. I've also been asked to open a new vintage shop in town called Miche Niche. This looks to be a great store promoting recycled (vintage) clothes, as well as money being donated to charity! Perfect! Fashion that cares! Check out the site here- http://www.miche-niche.co.uk/!!

(Grand Finalist- At The South West Heats)
I am still looking for donations and sponsors to help me to be able to compete in the international finals. I have set up a page http://www.gofundme.com/3nrq60 in which you can donate. I'm also looking for ideas on fundraising as well as other sponsors such as hair, shoes, travel, etc!! I can not wait!

I'm going to Disneyland!!!

In my last blog I talked about making the South West finals for the Face of the Globe! Today I will tell the tale! My day started very early after having just three hours sleep from finishing work at 3 in the morning. I started the day by reading the fab article in my local paper, the Swindon Advertiser with a fab picture from my sponsors CMG Photography. I got the train and then my other fab sponsor, Trinity Styling picked me up ready for a fun day of rehearsals!

(Rehearsing)

I met some great girls and we had tons of fun even though it was SO hot, literally must of sweated half a stone off me! We went through our walks and the snake! Then we had time to chill which of course myself and a couple of girls chilled in the Bristol Rovers Stadium and tanned whilst catching up on pageant life! It's amazing who knows who on the pageant circuit and I love catching up with old friends!! Hair in rollers, eyelashings glued on, naps happening! Soon it was go time! The first round was pink tshirts, then rainbow round and finally evening gowns with our set questions!
(All the seniors in their Pink T-shirts)

The T-shirt round went great apart from a little stumble in my heels at the end of the walk, I don't think anyone noticed but I laughed it off! Then came the rainbow round. I made my own playsuit out of rainbow flags, and me and Amelia made our own dance routine at the judges panel to show off a bit of fun to the round! We loved it!  I couldn't help but dance!

(Rainbow Round)

Then evening round, I love my evening gown and made sure I remembered every moment of being on that stage. My question's were, what is the most craziest thing I have ever done, as well as what would I do for their chosen charities. I told everyone about the time on holiday where we rented a speed boat, and it broke down, leaving us to be rescued by an Ice cream man boat. Also about abseiling for charity, which myself and Miss Swindon 2013 are going to be doing THIS Sunday in our ballgowns! We love a challenge. THe second question I talked about Wiltshire Beauty Queens and what we do in our community to help charity. Then all we had to do was wait, we had done our parts, they had to judge our scores and see who was Top 5, the team going to Disneyland.

(All three rounds, action shots!)

By then I had had so much redbull I was literally buzzing, waiting nervously as the results came in!! When my name was called, I was not expecting it at all. You always sit there and pray that they call your name, but there were so many beautiful girls I was thinking no. So when they actually call your name, you think you've imagined it! The first thing I said was, "i'm going to Disneyland!!!" then talked about myself and my dreams. I didn't win overall, that went to the lovely Jessica but I am still part of Team South West which means I am a finalist at the Face of the Globe finals! I AM GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!  I am like a little child, I have never been and I love Disney! I can not wait to compete!

(Top 5, Team South West!)

However because I didn't win, my tip needs to be sponsored (which totals £579) as well as sponsors for dresses, hair, nails and make up. As much support as Swindon can give!! I would love to represent my town and county of Wiltshire in an international final!!! The finals are in October and they include fancy dress party, gala dinners and the finals! I'm so excited, this will be a dream come true!!!

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/10554663.Queen_nears_beauty_finals/?ref=mmsp)

I have even made the front of the Swindon Advertiser website (with the paper version coming out tomorrow) about the finals, I cant wait to make Swindon proud! I've been competing for Swindon and WIltshire for 4 years, and will not stop! I have lots of charity ideas to raise funds for Face of The Globe's chosen charity, any more would be appreciated! I want to raise as much as I can and do as much as I can! You are soon going to get sick of this face!!

(Waiting to start! Pageant love)

Miss England finals, Armed Forces Day and Disneyland???!!

(At the Old Town Festival, being photobombed by Peppa Pig)

Since the Miss Wiltshire finals, life has been a bit hetitc for myself with my new job as Head of Promotions for Soda Swindon (https://www.facebook.com/SodaSwindon?fref=ts) that pageant's have taken a back step. But Swindon have still seen this pageant girl! I was honoured to be asked as a special guest at the Old Town Festival Parade! I got to ride in the Swindon Adver Vintage Bus and help judge the parade contestants! It was a gorgeous day and I loved wearing my ballgown again!!

(Wiltshire Beauty Queens at the Miss England Finals)

Pageant time in June. This time I was the supporter, not the competitor! Myself, Ruth (Former Miss Wiltshire) and Georgia (Miss Charity Heart UK) travelled down to Devon to support former Miss Swindon Ela Good as she competed in the Miss England finals!! The eventful trip down and the eventful trip of getting into the finals will be one to tell the grandkids for sure! But we made it! Dressed in our evening gowns, cheering and whooping on! The final was amazing to watch, but heartbreaking knowing I can never compete in Miss England! Ela sadly didn't win or come Top 15 but she had an amazing time and did Swindon proud!!

(With Miss Swindon 2013 and the Swindon Mayor)

Even though I hold no title, I am still a part of the community representing my past titles! I still get recognised today as a Miss Swindon, even people asking for an autograph when I was working out at Kiss Gyms!! Coming from a military background I always support the Armed Forces Day and this year myself and the new Miss Swindon 2013 Jade attended the Armed Forces Day in Swindon Town Centre where we met the Mayor, had our picture taken with lots of children (and big children) as well as find out information about what we could do to help military charities. And I may have signed up to join the TA haha.

(Armed Forces Day 2013)

But my pageant journey hasn't ended yet! I have some exciting news!! I am a finalist in the South West England heats of Face of the Globe, THIS Saturday in Bristol!!

I am so excited to compete again and have wanted to do this pageant for a long time, especially as the Grand Finals are at Disneyland!! I have never been to Disneyland so it would literally be a dream come true!! There are three rounds, as well as the "rainbow round". So i decided to be a bit creative (lets hope the judges can't see my sewing skills, shocking) and made my own rainbow playsuit out of flags!

(Homemade Rainbow Dress- Who said pageants have to be expensive?!)

Can;t wait to wear it!! The countdown has began, get to see some old pageant friends faces again and a great day out in Bristol! How I could stop pageants is beyond me, it really is  a lifestyle choice! My fab sponsors for this event are my fav photography page CMG Photography and hairstylist who did my amazing hair at the Miss Wiltshire finals, Trinity Styling! Mwah! Now to get some last minute training done at my fav gym Kiss Gyms.Fingers crossed everyone! ANd if you really love me you can vote by liking this image (after first liking the page).https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=408544669265059&set=t.559240382&type=1&theater
