You're just going to have to roll me out...

(opening shot! more than just 3 beauty queens in the same place!!)

I love my food. It's true, the whole myth that beauty queens never eat is one strange notion when it comes to us wiltshire beauty queens who go for seconds (which is why I am a personal trainer with a bit of untrained muscle, food calls to me too much!!). So of course we were very happy to be invited to attend the grand opening of PappadamS, a new Indian restaurant in Town Centre.

(With the mayor, one amazing woman!!)

There was live music, and alot of photos, risky since the restaurants on the end cordner near the main road for Regent Circus!! But most importantly amazing food!!! There was live music from local talent, love a guitar as I'm eating!! The food was buffet style, just how we like it, and i'm sure with the great service we received as well as the second plateful we all consumed, they will be a very popular choice for diners!!

(Traditional weird selfies, phone is full of them!!)

It was also great to have all four Wiltshire beauty queens in the same place at the same time!! Incredible the girls have done so well for themselves, getting the name of Miss Swindon and Miss Wiltshire out there. AS well as my bestie Georgia who will soon be competing for MRS (and of course I am maid of honour, so excited!!!). With such busy lives we all lead with work, college and babies, its great that events like this bring us together!!

(With my FOTG sash, and crown!!! Go South West!!)

The event also got alot of press which you can read about here:

(We got papped in Kaspas!)

Of course we all sad our goodbyes apart from myself, nicole and her mum where we walked down the street to Kaspas (my dream place) and had sundaes and smoothies. As we finished, we were asked if they could take our picture! Of course! I'l be coming in for my birthday waffles soon ;)

So now it will be preparing for the numerous charity events and lead up to the South West finals, remember my spinathon on Bank Holiday as well as judging the fancy dress competition for the Autism fun day at Greenbridge the day before!! For now i've been working too many hours, need sleep, rest and excitiment as I get my best friend back from Thailand, I get a day off from saturday and Avengers is in the cinemas!!

Lots of love

Monday 20 April 2015

All things bright and cuddly

(Bear selfie!!)

It is now Monday, the day that all our bears were to be collected and driven up north to that special little boy Finlay to help beat that record! They had all been packed away, and what a journey it has been!! When i first put a shout out for teddy bears, i thought the maximum i may get would be 100, if that. Never would I thought that others would join in, businesses, other charities, people rummaging through their homes to try and find bears to help little Finlay!! The most thankful I can be to everyone at the Swindon Scrapstore for being the main collection point, for Beni the bear for rounding up all your little bear friends and for FLIC Wiltshire for breaking the story and keeping it in the current news. As well as Nuffield for being a collection point also for the little guys. So the grand total is.....

How amazing is this?!!! Seeing how at last count he only needed 800 more to break the record, we have contributed 3/4 of that, from a little town called Swindon!! I am so proud of how we have all come together to help someones dream come true!!!

(You can read the story on FLIC at- http://www.flicwiltshire.com/Community/Charity/Generous-Swindon-people-donate-tons-of-teddies-for-brave-Fin.aspx#.VTVvayvF9Ba)

They are very happy back at #opteddybear headquarters!!

I am so happy that I can use my title for the greater good, raise awareness and help others! This is what competitng in pageants is actually for, for charity, to help others who are in more need that you! People are often suprised at the amount of work we do, and the selflessness of some of our actions. For example, I have given away my Face of the Globe ballgown I wore in Paris last year, to someone who needs it more than I do. People were commenting why dont you ask for money, but to make someones day is all the payment you need! And it turns out they will be donating to the Rainbow CHild Foundation so two great things!!!

(#bearlove)

I also have some very exciting news, I have been asked to be an official Bear Patron of The Beni Bear Club. I'm so honoured and excited!!! I will be helping Beni the bear with all his charity efforts, to help the children and to spread his message! He is such a fab bear, he made Finlay a very special bear (called the Awesome-bears which come with an instruction guide on their duties and extra cuddles) to take with him to hospital. This is such an amazing thing to do and so much dedication from the lady behind Beni the bear (Beni's mummy). They should be very proud of themselves! I will wear my wristband and pin with pride!! I have been asked to help judge the princess and prince fancy dress competition at the Autism Fundraising family day (3rd May, 12-4 at Swindon Rugby Club Greenbridge) which I am very excited to be dressing up and helping!!! As well as lots of exciting projects along the way!!
(Spinathon!!)

Now that all the bears have been collected, I know now draw my attention to my fundraising event for the Rainbow Child Foundation. I am doing a spinathon, might as well use my spinning knowledge, and inviting you all to come along and help raise some funds whilst trimming down for summer!!! It will be at Nuffield Health on bank holiday monday 4th May, non members are welcome as well as long as you reserve your space! Will be setting up a just giving page shortly, if you want to sponsor me to complete it (come on 3 hours is a long time on a bike!!!) or just donate then please let me know! I will also be selling some clothes and dresses to raise some more funds!!!

(Backstage SW finals 2013- excited to see some familiar faces!)

So a very exciting week i've had and it's only Monday! I still have the opening of PappdomS with the Wiltshire Beauty Queens, Charity fun days, dress fittings for fashion shows, spinathons, more charity events, weddings, my birthday and then the finals!!! Time flies when you are covered in sequins!!!
Lots of love

Operation give us all your teddies!

(The start of something special)

Something us pageant girls are great at doing is helping others. This is never the first thing people think of when you talk about pageants. They see all the glitz, the glam, the dresses and the high high heels . What they don't see is the thousands and thousands of pounds raised for various charities. Charity is a big part of pageantry. We arent forced to raise money, but what is the point of having a title if you cant use it for good and to inspire! I found out about Finlay's Journey and #opteddybear through a fellow face of the globe titleholder (super pageant mummy Karen) who was calling on facebook to help donate teddy bears. Karen lives in the midlands, so I thought it would be a great idea to get the South West involved and help the collection!!

(Finlay)

The story goes: Finlay is 10 years old and has Brain Cancer, an awful thing for anyone but for a little boy, it's heartbreaking! He was diagnosed in June 2014 and is ongoing treatment. Since then he has raised nearly 20,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital and Brain Tumor Research. The reason we need Teddy Bears? Finlay wants to break the record of most teddy bears in a line to get a world record and raise even more for charity! The record stands at 4,041, and we want to smash that! Afterwards the bears will be donated to charity shops to raise even more!!

 (Social media has helped loads!!)

Since putting the appeal on facebook on Sunday, we have been very busy! First  FLIC Wiltshire wrote a lovely piece:
 http://www.flicwiltshire.com/Community/Charity/Swindon-Beauty-Queen-makes-urgent-call-for-Teddy-Bears-.aspx
Since this, and twitter, it has gone mad!! Someone brought a big bear donated by their 12 year old into Nuffield today, alot of different people collecting and searching their attics!! Then I had an amazing call today from the Swindon Children's Scrapstore saying that they saw the piece in FLIC and have started collecting, and have over 100 already!!! This is amazing news!! I am off to see them tomorrow and all the bears!

(The Scrapbear shop keeping a tally of the bears coming in!)

This just proves that social media can be used for good, by sharing on twitter and facebook, online magazines we now have over 150 bears already and it's not even the weekend yet!! We have until MONDAY to get as many as we can before I send them off to their new record breaking home!!
(Beni Bear- A very charitable bear helping the cause!)

I can't wait til we count the final tally and show that Swindon can be a very charitable place indeed!! If anyone knows anywhere we can get postaging and deliver cheap, please let me know as I have a feeling we could get to at least 500 if not more bears!!!

(Official Ambassador for Code Red Charity, so honoured!)

IN other pageant news, I am so honored to be asked to be an Ambassador for Project Code Red, an charity which helps homeless woman with hygiene products. Let's face it, that time of the month is never good for any women, but imagine being on the streets, homeless, not evening having basic shelter or nutritional food and then mother nature calls?! We simply do not think when we donate about woman's needs. This is a great cause and I can't wait to get more involved! You can find out more here:

https://www.facebook.com/ProjectCodeRedUK?fref=ts

If you would like to help, please sign this petition to help scrap the Tampon tax, taxing something that we have no control over is simply wrong!

https://www.change.org/p/the-uk-goverment-scrap-the-tampon-tax

(One of my lovely Sponsors!!)

I have also been asked to be a special guest at my sponsors charity event for Prospect Hospice, a summer ball!! I have always  been a great supporter of Prospect and us Wiltshire Beauty Queens have done a lot of fundraising  for them (jumping down tall buildings anyone?!!) so I will be there wil ringing bells!! You can get tickets here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1488327404773951/

It's a chance to wear a ballgown, dress up, make lots of money for charity, dance and eat great food! My sponsors also have a great piece on Total Swindon where i was mentained:

http://www.totalswindon.com/lifestyle/tgts-meets-emma-north/#.VS2BtSvF9BY

They have definitely helped me with my dream of winning, and fingers crossed we can help other's dreams come true! From the women in the streets, to little Finlay and to everyone at Prospect! I am also busy planning my spinathon for the Rainbow Child Foundation, so fingers crossed we can help them to!!
Thank you for reading and please help with donating time or money, we are happy with both!!
Lots of love

Saturday 11 April 2015

Duck goes Quack, Beauty Queen goes Oooh Sparkles!

(Angel loves the new sash)

Straight from gaining my place in the South West finals, fast forward a week and I have my new sash (The white one will come out on special occasions) as well as an appearance to bring it out! This time I would be joining Miss Wiltshire Nicole and Miss Swindon RU Jade in helping the Swindon Rotary Club's Duck Race, selling the ducks for the annual duck race, this year helping the MS Society here in Swindon.

(myself,nicole and jade)

The actual Duck race is on the 25th May, bank holiday Monday which also includes a dog show (totally entering Roxy foxy!) as well as stalls, fayres etc!! If i can get the day off that is! We were helping with trying to get people to buy a duck for the duck race! And they had real life ducks there too!!! They were only ten days off, too cute! Ducks were only a pound (so i got two myself) and you can win a grand! (new pageant dresses!!!)

(Baby DUCKS!!!)

I even got to hold one!! It attracted a lot of people and lots of people bought ducks (the plastic ones, not the real ones lol)!!! Fingers crossed they raised a lot of money, and make sure you turn up on the 25th May, at Wootton Bassett Road, Swindon.

I also made Total Swindon's website for making the south west finals, fingers crossed it is one of many!!! I have lots more coming up before the finals, trying to plan a charity event, more appearances, turning ahem 26 and then finals!!! Let's hope I get an extra birthday present hey ;)
Lots of Love

Sunday 5 April 2015

If you keep on believing, a dream that you wish will come true...

(Face of the Globe Internationals last year- Photo- Paul Carroll)

Soooooo someone has a little announcement, which begins and ends with Disney! I have been debating whether or not to enter back again, the only pageant I have ever done more than once is the Miss Wiltshire heat of Miss England as it has been local to me and since winning, it's a little sister queenhood! But I just couldn't resist when I heard a couple of my Miss Inspiration sisters were entering, I entered the South West heat of Face of the Globe and I am happy to tell you, I am a finalist!!!!

(Top Five SW 2013)

Last time I entered the South West heat, i was in the top five which I was not expecting at all, this was going to be my last pageant but getting that top 5 meant I could go to Disney and if you read this blog, you all know where that lead to!!! Nearly not getting allowed into Disney for THAT dress aha! I have lots of fun things planed which I need to get time to actually do!! But I first have to say a big thank you to the two people who are making this become possible, my sponsors!!!
(The road to Disney part two)

These are Simply Beautiful by Emma, and Little Gem's flowers, who are both part of the Swindon Wedding Club who I met when I modelled for their event! Sponsors are really hard to find, so the fact that two local companies have joined forces, I'm very excited! Also there are talking of combining a photoshoot with one of my former sponsors CMG Photography, excited anyone!!!! This final I mayactually be prepared over a month before the final, I have already got my pink tshirt with my name (must remember to not wear see through leggings!!). I'm getting a fab pink cocktail dress which I'm swapping my black jovani for (pageant girls are eco friendly as well as shop savvy!) and I'm going a bit different this year with my evening gown as there isnt that many sparkles to it!!!

(Jovani, Jovani, Jovani)

As you can see I got this amazing dress by who else by Stardust boutique. I'm very loyal and this girl has simply been amazing throughout my pageant life!! I got my first ever dress from here, a yellow primprimaverass which had been worn before, and I wore that dress so many times!!! I think ive bought around 13 dresses, alot jovani!!! But Kylie and her team treat you with respect, cater to your needs and budgets! I got this amazing dress in her many auctions, which i was nearly outbidded with myself going offline whilst I had to walk home so made as many bids as I could!!! Pageant girls know the struggle!!!
(Wiltshire beauty queens, except Ruth will be wearing hers!!!)

So the finals of the Face of the Globe SW heats is on the 24th May, my birthday weekend (as its on a tuesday, nothing happens on a tuesday!) and bank holidayyy!! Also it's at my fav venue, Weston Super Mare!! I will be trying to arrange a charity spin, as well as attend a few events! One event is the day after an very important day, the day Ruth can compete in MRS comps as she is getting married!!! The first one to get married, with Georgia getting married next March! I'm so excited! Also to see what dress she wears! We've modelled so many wedding dresses together so be amazing to see what style she chooses, and to all be reunited together! Then rush back to Swindon for a charity fashion show!!
(Buy tickets, shop and raise money for charity!)

I will be modelling with my best pageant friend and sister from another mister Georgia, Miss Wiltshire GB14 and I will be in vintage, my fav era! If there is any other events that I could attend or help raise funds for the Rainbow Child Foundation then let me know!! Thank y'all for reading!!!
