Miss South West Inspirational finals AKA the moment I became Sandra Bullock

There is something I love more than pageants, I know!! More than the sparkling crowns, dresses, heels and T Stance poses, there is something that makes me feel so calm and happy and that is the beach! All the memories of when you were younger, going on holiday and topping up your tan (or in my case, sleeping on your morning off at Cherry Bay with a milkshake). What was amazing about this pageant day was it was at Weston Super Mare, on the pier!!! One of the best venues I have ever competed in! Getting off the station I was reminded about coming here 4 years ago with my friends to the T4 festival and getting lost for over any hour, now technology in the form of an I phone got me to the pier easy!

(With two of the gorge Woman contestants, made my day fun!!)

As soon as I had arrived, I knew this was a pageant different to any one I had done! Everyone was so diverse, different, interesting but most of all so happy to be there! No backstage dramas, everyone wanted to help each other, in a genuine way! We had some pageant coaching as well as our interviews! I wish I had not babbled so much in my interview as I had so many things planned in my head, but still I came across as bubbly and happy to be there, which of course I was!! We had plenty of time to get ready, I should of gone on some of the rides! We did have chips on the pier of course, and I had some pancakes with Cola and Haribo flavour Ice cream?! Crazy hey! First round was purple, pink or white tshirt with leggings for the opening, leggings I always worry about as over my big bottom they always go see through! Lucky H&M sell ultra thick ones!!

(Mixture of Mini, Teen, Miss and Woman in Opening round outfits)

We were lucky enough before the final to be treated to a firework display from the pier, our dressing room had amazing views, was very chilling if you wanted to stand on the pier though! And I always get a red nose if I stand in the cold for a second! Not a good look on stage aha! So after the fireworks, straight to the show! We all went out together, then by ourselves to introduce ourselves! I was afraid my shoes were going to slip off but I was confident, strutted and may have perfected a t stance?!! haha then rush off to change into fashion wear!! The change over time was simply not there!! It was ultra quick!!!

(My Disney Dress <3)

I saw after I took my selfie (after the round, there was no time beforehand) that I kept my opening round necklace on, where my disney dress had a necklace already sewn it! Double banded aha! I loved wearing my dress, so many compliments which means the world since it took so long to make!! I loved walking on stage, defo did a twirl in it too!! Last round was of course the evening wear round! I got to wear my cream jovani which of course comes from Stardust Boutique! Needed alot of body tape as its a bit too big on top for me but fits fine on the bottom half (big booty problems aha) and I loved my eleelegantlk, esp with a Ruth turn as well ;) One last walk on stage and then interval for all the scores to be counted up!!

(Evening gown selfie!)

After some amazing singing, raffle prizes, we were all called up and prizes given out! I didnt win the main category which wasn't surprising to myself as I had only entered last minute, usually I am publicity queen, but the winner Maria truly deserved it and shows it is not judged just on looks, but on everything which is what a beauty pageant should be! Beauty on the inside as well as the outside! Maria has an amazing charity journey challenge with the pageant being one, and now gets to walk with her 50s glam again ;)

(Like the movie!!)

I did win one of the best awards in any pageant which is Miss Congeniality!! This award is voted by all the girls backstage and the fact I won even though I spent half the day being my normal, weird self just means the world to me! From someone who has social anxiety and depression, getting the chance to enter such a great pageant and come away with an amazing award makes me proud! Also I will be going to the finals in March! So I will get to see all these faces again!!

(From my first to my last... of 2014 anyways!)

Looking back at where I first started my love affair with pageants, to where I am now (I Have eyebrows which is a relief!! haha) it makes me feel blessed that I have been able to compete with such amazing people, travel all over the Uk and even branch out to Paris! I have raised thousands for different charities, made life long pageant friends as well as calling some my best friends, as well as make Wiltshire proud! I have overcome my shyness around new people that I have been able to successfully complete a season abroad as a rep where you kinda HAVE to speak to new people! I wouldnt have the confidence to do that if I hadn't of competed! My smile still stays the same, as each and every competition I am gratefgratefulve something fufilling in my life! Plus I get to be a princess and live my childhood dreams!! If you want to enter one, do it! It will honesty be a life changer! Now I have the challenge of March 2015 UK finals, a massive charity event but most of all finding a job that will let me be a princess!!

Lots of love

Sunday 2 November 2014

We'll always have Paris!

(masquerade evening)

Over a year and a half I had waited for the finals of Face of the Globe and they were FINALLY here!! Travelled bright and early to London for what would be the craziest, pageant filled week!!Checked in, rehearsals and then off to get ready for the masquerade ball!! So it was ballgown on and wouldnt be complete without my new tiara!!! Felt like I was a proper princess, compete with my crown! We were all introduced on stage, having to curtsy and enjoying a little dance in these huge dresses!!!

(Team England and Australia)

It was also a great time to socialise with all the other queens, getting to know everyone from all over the globe! And of course lots of selfies!! Then it was the PJ party!!! Since i brought 3 onsies with me I had tons of choice but decided it was a Monsters Inc kinda night! There was a sweet cart, pink chocolate fountain and of course the infamous photobooth!!

(Photobooth fun!!)

We also had dance lessons from Robin from Strictly Come Dancing which was nice to learn some dance moves!! Then to retire to the hotel room as Monday was a very busy day ahead because it was Fitness day!!! We were up bright and early, all dressed in our face of the globe tshirts and leggings, ready to squat til we dropped!!

(Mix of teens and adults, before our legs didnt work!)

We were being trained by the Adonis boys who put us through our paces!!! The entire week after that was full of moans whenever we saw stairs of any sort, getting down and up, generally every task! Luckily we got to have some fun with the first ever chicocumba a mix of Zumba and boxercise! \So after that, time to desweat, stretch those legs and off to the busiest judging of the whole week! It was Gala evening in our evening dresses with a speech, informal interview with another set of judges and then photogenic round in our cocktail dresses!!!

(Gala evening dress, from Stardust Boutique)

It was great to wear my evening jovani dress although I was more worried about the top falling down on stage than my speech myself!! I felt my speech went as well as it could, crazy how nervous you get on that stage when i've been doing public speaking to strangers this whole summer!  Then an informal interview straight after that, where I joked with the judges, i was expecting questions but it was just talk about what you wanted, never good for me as Ill talk about anything! Rambling on! After all that, a change to cocktail and to pose for our official photographer Paul, in which of course I ended with a funny pose, never serious!!

(With Miss South Africa, Wales and N.Ireland, amazing girls!!)

After a hetic day it was straight to bed as we had to be up very early on Tuesday for PARIS!!! We left the hotel at 7, quick stop off from brekkie at the Euro Train, and then off under the sea to Disney!! We got there around 5 pm, long day travelling (and expensive hot chocolate, or bowl de choclat'). We carried or dragged our luggage in some cases to our rooms and they were amazing!! Even little mickey ears on the soap bottles!! Our first night in Disney and it was the Wild \west show, an amazing show with horses, cowboys and lots of food!!

(selfie after the show! free cowboy hats!!)

We were team red according to our cowboys hats, a great interactive show with American food! Although it was amazing, after all that travelling and up early, we had a photocall the next day at 8AM so it was back to hotel and restless sleep as we were going into the parks!!!! Wednesday photos done, 96 queens from all over the world decend into Disneyland Parks, it was amazing!! Sleeping beauty's castle! This was the first time I had been to Disneyland and it was every dream come true! I got to spend my day with myt new friends April (Austrualia), Gilly (N.Ireland) and my roommate Ffion (Wales) where we went on a host of rides like Space mountain, Crushers Crushums, the Rock n Rolla rollercoaster and of course met some characters!!

(With Woody, stick em up\!)

We also got to see the park at night, the light show is amazing! 15 minutes of pure magic! Fireworks, singing, going through all the disney characters and a little bit of hallooween added in! The parades are also amazing, we joined in at the end! \highlight of the day! Thursday was the grand final!! Rollers in hair was the in look in Paris! As we were walking to the ballroom in our opening number, one worker said I looked like Ariel which made my year! The final show was amazing, I loved walking in my ballgown and although I didn't win antything, I got to compete on stage in an internatioanl finals, from over 5000 entries down just to 32 adults. I've met amazing peopled, friends for life and got to live my childhood dream of being in Paris. In true beauty queen style, we all shipped ourselves to maccy Ds where the feasting began!!

(Happy meal indeed|!)

It was Friday, Halloween, the last day in Disney!! Nearlly didnt even get to go into the park as the lady stopped me because I was wearing my Disney Dress!!! There is a rule that adults arent allowed to dress as the princesses, etc as it could distract from the real ones, etc yet as four angry beauty queens being denied entry into Disney agrued, i wasnt a character, I simply had disney print, the same as someone wearing a disney print top and hoodies they sell in their shops!! \\Both her team leader and manager said it was fine and I was allowed through but she was not happy!!!

(The Disney Dress!!)

I got alot of compliments about my dress, alot being surprised when I said I made it myself!! We got to go into the castle, the queue to meet the princesses was 2 hours so we stayed instead for the Villians parade! Gascon said he loved my dress and Malifigent was amazing in character!!

(The mad woman herself)

We went on a few more rides, ate at Pizza Planet (let down from the movie) then our coach came to take us away from the happiest place in the world :( We arrived back in London at eleven pm, saying all our goodbyes and promising reunions! Matt came to collect me and had to deal with all my exciting stories about Paris and my singing! Now I have massive Paris blues!! I would do it all over again, what pageant this princess will enter next is unknown but I am happy that I got to represent my country, a dream that can now be ticked off the list!!
